🧹✨What's the best way to clean my flue?! Cleaning your flue system can be daunting, but it’s really as easy as 1 - 2 -3:
#1 make sure you have everything you need: Rotary tool (head over to our shop if you still need one!), drill, ladder and a steady foot up on the roof
#2 🌟Do not skip this step (though if you do please send us a video because either you laugh about it or you…laugh about it in a few weeks): ❗️close the air controls on your stove ❗️ Unless you were planning on deep cleaning your home anyways...
#3 Remove the baffle inside your stove. It makes for way easier cleaning later on
#4 Climb up on that roof and clean the chimney from top. While you’re up there make sure to check your boot and seals for any weak spots
#5 Enjoy the view for another minute
#6 Carefully open the stove door and repeat step #4 from the bottom.
#7 Remove all creosote from the stove, either with a powerful vacuum cleaner or a broom.
#8 Enjoy that draft!

For everyone feeling overwhelmed with the cold season approaching faster than anticipated (who decided it's time to sell Christmas decorations, because we'd like a word with them), and before we’re heading head-first into a panic spiral of Christmas prep and flue cleaning we’ve created this handy guide for your Tiny Wood Stove pre-season maintenance.
So you don’t have to worry about the amount of firewood you need and can focus on the important things in life (like, what do the kids want to be for Halloween and how to deal with great-uncle Saul during Thanksgiving dinner).

What's on our list:
⏺ Give the flue a throughout cleaning with a rotary cleaner and check for any obstructions
⏺ Inspect the chimney for cracked sealant, tighten the clamps and check the pipe boot
⏺ Check your gaskets (use the dollar bill test) and tighten loose screws (yes, even the handle, especially if your home has been down some washboard roads)
⏺ Check the fire brick for any damage and touch up your stove cement
⏺ If you notice any rust, now is the time to touch up the paint!
⏺ Stock up on firewood, compressed logs, kindling, and lighters (you know you need plenty of back up lighters!)
