Care Instructions
Cleaning: Use a damp cloth to brush off stuck-on food. For stubborn food, you can use a scrubbing brush. Avoid soap or chemicals because the porous surface can absorb them making for next pizza taste a little funky. If more abrasion is needed, try coarse salt. While it will create some smoke, you can always clean your stone by baking at a high heat to burn off any food remnants.
Drying: Allow the pizza stove to thoroughly dry before using or storing. Consider storing it in the oven full-time to keep it nice and dry and out of your way. Plus, it will always be pre-heated as soon as your oven is!
Discoloration: Pizza stones will discolor and retain stains from food. Don’t worry about trying to clean this off. If desired, you can keep it cleaner by using parchment paper or a baking sheet between the stone and your food.
Protecting the stone: Avoid temperature extremes, i.e. a hot stone in cold water. Don’t cut directly on the stone; remove your pizza to a rack to cool before cutting.
