Tell us about yourselves.

Our names are Francesca and Nicholas Drez and we live full time in our converted school bus with our 3 dogs.

How did your tiny living journey begin and what were your reasons? How long have you been living tiny?

Our tiny living journey began in January 2019. It was one of the colder and wetter winters for Colorado - thankfully we had our tiny wood stove to keep us warm. We chose to go tiny on wheels so that we could eventually travel the US. We love the idea of being able to pick up our home and move wherever we want or need to go.

Where did you install your stove? Do you stay in cold climates much?

Our stove is installed in our school bus conversion. We often stay in cold climates. We currently travel around the Colorado area and will continue to stay here throughout the winter months.

How did you decide on a Dwarf stove?

We researched the Skoolie community on instagram to get an idea of what everyone else was doing when it came to living in a bus in cold climates. It seemed that a lot of buses were opting for the tiny wood stove to save on electric heating costs, it also is a great alternative for off-grid situations which we liked because we knew we would want to do off-grid trips often.

How did your installation go?

We did not install the tiny wood stove - the company who helped build our bus, skoolie.com, installed it for us.

How has your experience been using the Dwarf? Have you been enjoying having a tiny wood stove in your space?

It definitely took some getting use to as we started bus life in really cold weather. Once we got a hang of how to use the stove we absolutely loved it and are so glad we went with it for our main heat source. Not only does it bring the cozy vibes and allow us to cuddle by the fire, it also really warms the place up, probably better than a heater could.

Would you recommend a tiny wood stove to others? Why?

We would recommend a tiny wood stove to any tiny dwellers, but especially for those who are looking for an off-grid alternative heating source.

What advice would you give others regarding a wood stove?

It’s important to purchase the proper cleaning tools for your stove to make sure it works properly. We recently purchased a rotary chimney cleaning system from tiny wood stove and have had a much easier time with the stove. We also purchased the heat powered stove fan from tiny wood stove to help push the heat around the bus. We LOVE the both the chimney cleaner and fan, and would recommend it to anyone purchasing a stove.
