What’s Included

We’ve put together a complete hardware kit using components rated for the high heat of wood-burning stoves and designed to work specifically with roof exit installs in framed structures with metal roofs.

This kit includes all components listed above. The kit does NOT contain enough stove/chimney pipe for most installations. Use our Kit Builder Tool to calculate and add the correct pipe lengths for your setup.

What Else You’ll Need

  • Stove/Chimney pipe: Add 4” diameter single-wall and double-wall pipe sections using our Kit Builder Tool.
  • Basic tools: Screwdriver, ladder, level and/or plumb bob, wax pencil or sharpie, tools to cut a hole in your ceiling/roof, screws to attach your pipe boot to your roof, your roof support bracket to your ceiling or roof, and your ceiling trim plate to your ceiling, silicone or urethane roofing sealant to seal the pipe boot flange to your roof
  • You may need: Angle grinder with a metal cutoff blade to cut single-wall pipe, sheet metal crimpers to adjust crimps, high-temp RTV silicone if using a metal flashing or a storm collar, scissors to trim your pipe boot, drill, heat-safe lubricant like spray graphite to prevent stainless hardware from binding
  • Hearth protection
  • Optional: Heat shielding

Installation Resources

This kit is DIY-friendly and built for first-timers, but does require some level of comfort using basic tools. That said, always follow local codes and safety best practices. Consult a pro if you’re unsure.

To anyone considering buying one of the stove installation kits from Tiny Wood Stove, do it! Worth every penny. We have done a home-designed, homemade wood stove installation before, in a sauna that we built, and it was a real pain to figure out and buy parts on our own. The kit from TWS eliminates most of the mental headache and all of the extra trips to the local hardware store to try and puzzle out a safe and watertight installation. We did the through-the-roof kit for a Fatsco Midget stove (4″ pipe), and it works great. Not a single drop of water has leaked through the silicone stove boot, despite having to install it over a couple of raised seams on the metal roof of our tiny house. This kit would also be good for a non-tiny house install, like a sauna, bedroom, garage, greenhouse, or anything else. Only room for improvement might be a more detailed explanation of the installation sketch, which is adequate, but left a little to the imagination for our job – and after building a tiny house, our brains didn’t want to do any more figuring.

Thank you, TWS, for a very helpful and solid kit.

My cabin is finished. The flue (4”) starting at the telescopic section to the rain cap was purchased Tiny Wood Stove. I also do ornamental iron work and have my own blacksmith shop. Well pleased with the stove pipe, everything works great.

Which 4" stove did you install? Something Else

Tiny Wood Stove was incredibly helpful with our Bathhouse Project. Installation to my Chofu Woodfire water heater was easy. The team was quick to respond to my questions and were easy and flexible to work with substituting and adding parts to the kit that were or were not needed by my application. All parts were well wrapped, free of scratches and well made with high quality stainless steel. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

Which 4" stove did you install? Dwarf 4kW

While cutting a hole in your roof can be a stressful experience, with this kit it couldn’t be any easier. It took us one afternoon from start to fire. Quality materials and exemplary customer service. Remember to do your math, draw it out, and then do it again! The drawings from the Tiny Wood Stove people were super helpful, but we newbies did end up messing the roof hole up a little – depending on your slope and thickness of roof, the hole in the ceiling and roof will be off-set!

  6. Question

    Chris Hancock

Is there a component necessary between the top of the insulated pipe to the vent top cap? How’s it going shipping to Canada these days? I’m located on Vancouver island Canada in a town called Courtenay.

Chris- The roof vent fits directly to the insulated pipe and is secured with a clamp. Shipping to Canada can be expensive but it is going well. Feel free to shoot us an email directly at Support@TinyWoodStove.com if you’d like more information on your shipping costs. Our online cart will also estimate your shipping at checkout.
