DWARF Direct-Air Intake Box

$75.00$95.00

The Direct-Air box connects to the back of the Dwarf stoves allowing fresh air to be piped into the stove for combustion. Supplying outside air keeps your warm air in the room instead of sending it up the chimney to be replaced by cold drafts entering your space through cracks around windows and doors.  If your space is very airtight, the direct air intake might be necessary to ensure the stove gets enough fresh air to function.

You can use 3″ flexible aluminum dryer vent to make the connection between the Direct-Air kit and your outside air supply.  Alternatively, if you prefer a more rigid pipe that matches your stove, the female end of our 3″ single-wall stovepipe fits nicely over the inlet of our Direct-Air kit.

Direct Air kits are designed to fit each stove model (S, M, & L) respectively.  If you have a legacy Dwarf stove (one with a single air control lever on the bottom instead of two), the direct air for the Dwarf S is backward compatible with your stove.

SKU: dwarf-air Categories: , , ,

There is a Direct Air box that works with each size Dwarf stove: S (3kw), M (4kw) & L (5kw).

Is this attachment compatible with the Dwarf Wood Storage Stands, or must it be paired with stove legs only?

Yes, the Direct Air Intake box can be used with the wood storage stand. There is a cutout in the back of the storage stand to allow them to work together.

Ryan- The direct air intake box (the piece that bolts to the stove to convert the air intake to a 3″ air duct) is pictured on this product page, in the top left of your screen. You need to supply the pipe and some sort of screen or hood for the outside of your structure, since that’s not included. 3″ metal dryer vent works well, or you can use our 3″ single-wall stovepipe for the air duct. If you’re terminating your pipe downward, it should be covered in 1/4″ hardware cloth to keep animals from entering the pipe. If you’re terminating your pipe horizontally, then you’ll likely want some sort of hood to keep wind and rain out of the pipe.

Can I use both the heat shields and the air intake box or is it one or the other?

      Shelley-

Yes, you can use the direct air with the heat shield option. It’s a tight fit so it’s best to install the shield first and then bolt on the direct air so that you can squeeze the rear shield between the direct air unit and rear of the stove.
