What an elbow strap does
In an offset, the elbows and the pipe between them sit at an angle, and their weight pulls on the joints. The strap’s band goes around the top elbow and its arms fasten to the framing, so the offset is supported before more pipe goes on above. If two pipe sections sit between the elbows, a second strap goes around the joint between them.
