Danielle and Tommy have been living on the road fulltime since 2017. They recently remodeled their vintage Airstream to an elegant and stunning home on wheels, complete with Tiny Wood Stove to keep themselves and their dogs cozy while traveling the US.
Who are you? Tell us something about you!
Hi, we are Danielle & Tommy from the travel and RV renovation blog Slow Car Fast Home. We have been full-time on the road since 2017. Our first rig was a mini Toyota RV, and we are now traveling in our 1973 Airstream! The two of us and our two dogs have traveled all over North America from Mexico's Baja Peninsula to Nova Scotia, Canada and most recently spent the summer in Alaska!
Where did you install your Tiny Wood Stove?
We installed our stove in an Airstream Travel Trailer. We try to stay in comfortably cool climates where the day time temperature is warm, and the night time temperatures cool off enough to sleep comfortably and use our wood stove when the temps drop enough
How did your tiny living journey begin and what were your reasons?
Our tiny living journey began in 2017 after finishing our first RV renovation. We just wanted to try something new and different. We lived in Denver, CO when we made the leap to buy our first RV, we sold all of our furniture and belongings and fully dove into this lifestyle. We have been living tiny for 5 almost 6 years now, and we don't see an end in sight for living in smaller spaces!
How did you decide on a Dwarf stove?
Honestly, we saw a lot of Dwarf stoves in bus builds and renovations, and we loved how these stoves had a classic wood stove look just miniature!
How difficult was the installation process? Did you need any assistance of any kind?
The installation process was A LOT easier than the two of us built it up to be. We spent months dreading the idea of cutting a hole into our Airstream roof/ceiling, and once we started the install process we quickly realized how simple this process would be. We did not need any assistance, but there are also two of us, so I would imagine if it were just one person installing the wood stove, a second pair of hands would be great!
How has your experience been using the Dwarf? Have you been enjoying having a tiny wood stove in your space?
Our experience using the Dwarf stove has been nothing but positive. There is of course a learning curve when you are first starting to build fires in these small stoves, but we caught on super quick, and have loved using our tiny wood stove as our only heat source in our Airstream.
Would you recommend a tiny wood stove to others?
We would definitely recommend a tiny wood stove to others! For unique and custom renovations it adds the most cozy feeling to these tiny spaces, and these little stoves really crank out the heat! If you travel with the seasons, and find yourselves leaning towards the cooler side of those seasons these are an awesome addition to your tiny space!
